Incorporates monorail line opened 1995 July to connect Bally’s and MGM Grand casinos, 1.1 km / 0.7 mi.
Opened July 15. No service operated for 113 of 162 days between 2004 July 15 - December 31. Service was suspended for two brief intervals during the first week of 2004 September. Service was then suspended for 107 days, September 8 - December 24, because of mechanical problems that caused parts to fall from monorail trains. The monorail carried 5,017,860 passengers during 2005 January 1 - June 30. The number of passengers per calendar day averaged 27,877. Traffic density statistic scaled up to annual rate.
Decrease in ridership (by 32 percent), 2005 - 2006, attributed to increase in (flat) single fare, from USD 3 to USD 5, effective 2005 December 29.
